The Festival derives from Vedere la Scienza, scientific film and documentary showing founded in 1997 by Università degli Studi di Milano. The aim was to present the best worldwide production of films and documentaries.
Vedere la Scienza has grown during the years, gaining the support of Provincia di Milano and the collaboration of Fondazione Cineteca Italiana. Since 2002 the manifestation has spread in many italian cities (Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Ferrara, Firenze, Genova, Mantova, Matera, Modena, Parma, Pavia, Potenza, Torino) and in 2006 developed theVedere la Scienza Festival. Beside the showings, the new event carries an international contest among videos of five categories, from traditional genres to recent audiovisuals.
Films by independent producers and big production companies, short videos and TV movies, unreleased works and classic movies: different genres, technologies and disciplines will meet at Vedere la Scienza Festival with the same goal of seeing, and showing, Science.
